The DEIF academy is easily accessible from the Fort Lauderdale International Airport via I-95 or US-1.
- Exit the airport taking I-595 Westbound
- Take Exit 10A and merge onto I-95 North
- Take Exit 32 and merge onto FL-870 East / Commercial Blvd
- Coastal Tower is on the Southeast corner of Commercial Blvd and US-1
Jim Martz has been working in the power management industry since 2000. Along with his BSEE degree, he has decades of experience with engines, turbines, and power generation systems, including building high-performance race cars.
He worked as a software engineer for Caterpillar, Inc. before working for Woodward, Inc in several different roles. Jim spent the last 16 years as an Application Engineer focusing on design, commissioning, and service of land and marine power systems in all types of applications.
Jim is now serving as Technical Training Manager to help support our growing customer base and their need for further knowledge of DEIF products.
Courtyard Fort Lauderdale East / Lauderdale-by-the-Sea
DEIF maintains an exclusive reduced nightly rate through our partnership with the Courtyard by Marriott. The hotel is located right across the street from the DEIF Training Center on the Northwest corner of Commercial Blvd and US-1. This makes walking between the hotel and the training center convenient as there is no vehicle needed for transportation before and after training days. Stay on the Beach!
If you would rather take full advantage of the South Florida experience, you may prefer to stay on the beach. As you can imagine, since Fort Lauderdale is a popular tourist destination, there are numerous options when it comes to accommodation near the ocean. Feel free to reach out to DEIF for recommendations, or simply find one that interests you. Just watch out for the increased rates that come along with the winter high season, typically between November and April.
Located only one mile away from the training center are the beaches and palm trees of the Atlantic Ocean and the beach town of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Take your pick from a variety of bars and restaurants with various styles of international cuisine; or simply dine with your feet in the sand at Aruba Beach Café.
There is an endless supply of attractions in the downtown Fort Lauderdale area. Las Olas Blvd is lined with restaurants, art galleries, bars, and retail stores. This area also features Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale which is packed with museums and piers where you can catch boat tours on the Intracoastal Waterway and rent paddleboards among many other attractions.
